"Sharp, attractive songs about snowboarding at Lake Tahoe."
-RENO NEWS & REVIEW

"Talbot's got Cat Steven's voice, Harry Chapin's melodies, and Jimmy Buffett's love of good times in his easy going tunes on snowboarding slackers... Talbot's good vibes are infectious."
-MEAN STREET MAGAZINE

"Tweeker Shred Master, the story of a young man who lives only to snowboard, already is attracting attention both locally and nationally." -RENO GAZETTE JOURNAL

"When talking with musician Darin Talbot, certain words come up in conversation over and over - Tahoe, fun and snow. Talbot's music - and his life - are permeated with these three items..."
-TAHOE MOUNTAIN NEWS

"Songs that are straight up nods to Tahoe and the lifestyle."
-RENO GAZETTE JOURNAL

"Bluesy pop-folk meets a distinct GenX sensibility in this Nevadan's wry tales of snowboarding dropouts, random love, country living and the musician's lot in life. Friendly and rollicking, Talbot comes off like a great beer-drinking buddy who's decided to lay down some amiable songs drawn from life."
-WILLAMETTE WEEK

"Whether melancholy or mirthful, all of Talbot's songs are, to some extent, inspired by Lake Tahoe."
-NORTH LAKE TAHOE BONANZA

"Talbot shoots straight from the heart. Some say that the days of minstrels are dead. Anyone who has experienced Darin Talbot's music would definitely differ."
-LAKE TAHOE DAILY TRIBUNE

"Talbot's slow numbers are impressive: perfect end-of-the-day, by-the-fireplace songs."
-RENO NEWS & REVIEW

"Rootsy jam-rocking songs about snowboarders. Imagine the vocalist from Blues Traveler singing along with The Other Ones about some guy on a Sims snowboard. Grinding Hammond sounds join up with tuneful guitars and traditional Americana backline to produce bouncy "extreme sport" Folk-Rock songs... the performance, melody, and soulful singing are near perfect." -LISTEN.COM

LYRICS___

"WHEN I WAS A PUNK I SPENT MY LIFE ON A SNOWBOARD; THOSE WERE THE SICKEST DAYS I'VE EVER KNOWN" -Old School Rider
Snowboard Songwriter DARIN TALBOT grew up in Lake Tahoe during the pioneering days of the sport. Back when riders had to hike up mountains in search of powder runs and literally duct-taped Sorrel boots to their wooden boards as makeshift bindings.

"BURNIN FATTIES DOWN THE ACCESS ROAD-TRYIN TO KEEP IT HEEL TO TOE" -Tahoe Backcountry (title track)
Methods, airs, fatties, freshies, and ridin fakey loose are terms you really don't have to know to enjoy Talbot's tunes, but it might help. As a young local, DT learned the area's Backcountry by hiking and surveying fire roads in the off season.

"CUTTIN CLASS, HITCHIN A RIDE, TO CARVE A TURN INTO THE MOUNTAINSIDE...DOWN APOLLO 431 ON A SWALLOWTAIL POWDERGUN"
-Tahoe Backcountry
Nods to many legendary landmarks in the Tahoe region are in Talbot's songs: Squaw Valley's Palisades, Granite Chief, Mt.Rose Chutes, and Mt. Rose Highway Nevada State Route 431.

"WENT BOARDIN IN THE MORNIN, WENT DOWN TO THE BEACH FOR THEM AFTERNOON RAYS" -Lazy Days in Tahoe
Where else could this happen? In the U.S., there are many great areas for outdoor mountain sports. But none compare with Tahoe's 14 major resorts and an awesome Big Blue Lake. One qualified opinion tell us why: "She's the fairest view the world affords." -MARK TWAIN

TALBOT's TESTIMONY___

"I grew up on the shores of Lake Tahoe and have spent 27 years here. It is a tremendous privilege and real honor to be able to write songs about the Lake. For whatever reason, when it comes to Tahoe, the inspiration filters into my fingers and my voice. Tahoe is an outdoor heaven and I want to sing about it."

The perfect tunage to get pumped to ride and to chill down apres ride. On the strength of this album I have ordered his "Big Air" all singing, all riding album. Keep writing and singing tunes for those of us on "the dark side" of the mountain, Darin.

This CD is awesome! As you might guess from my "name"..I love Tahoe. When I heard there was a CD out with songs about Tahoe I had to hear it. I was not disappointed in the least. My Son and Daughter are snowboarders and when I heard the songs relating to snowboarding I had them come over and listen to it. They both liked it and they are usually on opposite sides of the coin where most music is concerned. BTW..CDBaby..your site is great! Thank you~ Linda K.
