"Talia Segal's debut EP -- five songs, 15 minutes -- is designed to showcase her talent. Her voice is willowy but strong, with husky overtones, flexible enough to caress a ballad or rock out on an uptempo song. Her lyrics have a degree of depth to them, and her music is a blend of folk and pop that soars above the ordinary. Yet the best song on the album, "Anna Joy," harkens back to the 1980s, its attitude and arrangement reminding me of Julie Brown's "'Cause I'm a Blonde." It's classic songwriting, brilliantly dressed up in a satirical bubble-gum package that can't help but to bring a smile to your face. If you hear this EP, you'll be craving a full-length album."

What a Voice!...
author: Ward Swift
With a nonprofessional’s knack for seeing, or rather, hearing a great female vocalist, Talia Segal is all of that. Once, I called in sick so I could see a unique female vocalist at a corner bar in named Edie Brickell. Sometime later, I dragged a friend of mine to see a virtually unknown Canadian... her name was Sarah McLachlan. It has been twenty (plus) years since I've heard such a wonderful voice - Talia - you got it!!

Simple songs with good lyrics, well structured music with solid grooves and hooks. Talia’s got a voice that’s a little nasally in the midrange, but overall she’s got a sultry, sexy feminine voice that’s pleasant to listen to. A slight country influence can be heard in numerous tracks and I dig the use of percussions in the opening track. The song themes are typical subjects for a young woman but this doesn’t hurt the music, because let’s face it we’ve all heard these songs a hundred times before. Overall though not a bad sounding CD.
