The songs that make up 'Atlas' span different emotions. A balance of perky uptempo ditties and dark, nostalgic ballads. My favorite albums are ones where each track has a unique sound and texture, so that's what I wanted MY album to sound like!

Album Notes

'Coney Island', and 'Whole Wide World', tracks from ATLAS, were selected as a finalist in the 2009 John Lennon Songwriting Contest, and for an honorable mention in the 2009 North Carolina Songwriters Co-op Contest.

I was among 12 DC area songwriters chosen to perform as part of the Songwriters Association of Washington/BMI Songwriters' Showcase at the Smithsonian. I'll be performing 'Whole Wide World', and will share the stage with legendary Motown songwriter Lamont Dozier.

ATLAS was recorded at Spin Studios in Long Island City, NY. It's a brand new studio, and mine was the very first session, and innagural project there. The paint was still drying on the walls!

The console that we recorded with used to belong to Dr. Dre. I'm a big fan of rap, and Dre in particular, so to me that was really cool!

The album is full-band. The players on it include:
John Clancy on drums (Broadway productions of Tarzan, Shrek, and Spiderman)
Nicki Parrott on bass (Les Paul Trio)
Jessie Reagen on cello (East Village Opera Company)
Peter Kiesewalter on keys/clarinet (East Village Opera Company)
Matthew R. Staley on acoustic guitar

The producer was Marc Copely
