There is no current harpist that hasn't played at least once a composition by Bernard Andrès. This CD includes the première performance of Bernard Andrès' "Le Seigneur des Amin", which is a concerto for harp and Orchestra that he has dedicated to Rachel Talitman. Also included are "Le Veger Des Grenades" for bassoon, harp and string quartet, which is dedicated to Luc Loubry, and a set of Cuban-African dances for harp, strings and percussion under the name of "Les Danses d'Erzulie".
French harpist and composer, Bernard Andrès discovered the harp when he was 19 years old.Bernard Andrès is world -known for his compositions for harp and for chamber music ensembles. Yet, if there was something missing in his discography, it was his concertante pieces. Rachel Talitman, who has done so much in her passionate pursuit of beauty and perfection, and has uncovered also so many unpublished pieces, has now brought together three concertos of uneven length, and nonetheless of an enchanting nature. To accomplish this, Rachel Talitman has surrounded herself with seasoned soloists that address this poetic music with passion.

I just had the opportunity to review, rate and judge Andres' Concerto for harp and Orchestra. The first two movements are up for an award by Just Plain Folks and I was so blown away as a judge to hear this beautiful piece of music and just had to look Bernard up to tell him! Congratulations! What a fine piece of music for everyone involved, keep up the great work! Jazz Harpist, Lori Andrews (www.JazHarpRecords.com)
