Originally from North Carolina, and after years working in advertising in New York, narrator Talmadge Ragan now lives in Los Angeles and Three Rivers, CA, where she works as an actor in films, television and theatre. She is a member of SAG, AFTRA and Actor's Equity. For the last several years, she has been in charge of the Screen Actors Guild Conservatory Office at the American Film Institute, and integral in casting for AFI.
She is co-owner with her husband, director and writer,Worth Keeter (who also produced this audiobook) of Blue Kiss, LLC, an independent production company for films, commercials and audiobooks. She is President of Women in Theatre in Los Angeles and on the Advisory Board for two non-profits: Kings and Clowns- the Educational Shakespeare Alliance, and Art & Soul.
She became intrigued with THE SIGN OF THE SALAMANDER after a producer friend, interested in making a movie of the 1967 book by Eugenia Miller, recommended it might be a good audiobook for young people. Collaboration with Keeter, artists at neelu-made.com and John Legrande of Johneecatt Studios in Los Angeles made this the inaugural foray for Blue Kiss Audio.

author: Robert Babish
The Sign of the Salamander is one of the best audio books that I've ever heard. Intelligently written by Eugenia Miller, it tells the story of Leonardo da Vinci as seen through the eyes of a little boy who travels back in time to meet the great master. Talmadge Ragan is a talented story teller, with a voice that is so easy to listen to, as she lulls you into the fascinating tale. She paints the period of the story through beautiful images. Her voice is well suited for the young characters which she acts out with great passion clearly delineating each voice with her acting abilities. The effect is as if you were listening to a stage production of the piece.
The story is intriguing and keeps you involved as you follow the young boys' adventures to the exciting conclusion. It is quite an educational work as it includes many facts about Da Vinci's life. However it is not just for children, although I couldn't imagine a better evening than listening to it with your kids, it is very satisfying for the adult in you as your mind becomes actively engaged in co-creating the pictures which Talmadge so artfully puts forth.
The four c.d. set is wonderfully produced and comes handsomely packaged. I highly recommend this audio book, as it is a joy to own. You will want to listen to it more than once in order to immerse yourself in its' full flavor.
