"This CD is a love affair with Harlem, circa 1920's-1940's. The insert, full of little know facts and amusing anecdotes, reveals more about the period than the singer. It's as if she chose to travel back in time and don the era like an exquisite costume, confident in our good taste and her own musicianship. With her excelent phrasing, the unique stylist presents a perfect marriage of story and melody".
"HARLEM HAUNTS MY MIND" pays tribute to the wonderful music of The Harlem Renaissance. Produced and arranged by John Rodby it features guest artist Mel Carter ("Hold Me, Thrill Me, Kiss Me"), Plas Johnson ("The Pink Panther Theme") on tenor sax, John Rodby on piano and some of the finest musicians in the area; not to mention Barbra Streisand's back up singers! "Everyone was excited about recording with a live orchestra! A novelty these days. My favorite
cuts are: "You're My Thrill", "Take The "A" Train", "Mood Indigo", "I Let A Song Go Out Of My Head/Don't Get Around Much Anymore", a duet with the fabulous Mel Carter, and of course the "Adult Songs" are always fun".
