Album Notes

Sunshine Coast based talent Tamara Davis, a new and up and coming singer/songwriter has possibly redefined Australian pop rock music with her “rock chik” attitude and ability to combine hook-laden melody, harmony and guitar charged pop rock tunes, and she has managed to stay somewhat original. Tamara is now recieving airplay on her new single "rock chik" which has recieved great reviews over the past few weeks. Tamara Started writing and singing 3 years ago but only in the last 12 months she decided to go solo with the help and direction of Nathan Woodrow who co-wrote, and produced the EP.

Tamara brings an array of songs to her first attempt at a release. “Smiling with your eyes” includes a mixture of original rock and pop songs, tunes like “Rock Chik”, “Lullaby” and “1 size fits all” shows her nature of just rockin’ it out. Its difficult to listen without feeling somewhat energised by these electric tracks, whereas “All that’s left to say” displays her taste for stripped back, raw melody and harmony, and the big sounding “Jealousy” is thrown in there for something in between.

Tamara connects with her audience and her music through life experiences and through what she believes to be important in her life. Her strong attitude to life and reaching potential is evident in her lyric and delivery, as well as underlying messages and ambiguous story telling where her lyrics can be interpreted in a variety of ways.

“Smiling With Your Eyes” is an accurate representation of where Tamara is in life at the present, and a positive start to Tamara’s music endeavours and possibly even a career.

Queensland’s Tamara Davis has self written, produced and released this debut EP and she has a way with a pop rock melody. Her voice really suits this style of music and isn’t dominated by it. The songs are intriguing with the self mocking power pop of ‘Rock Chik’, the sweet rocking ‘Lullaby’, the ballad ‘All That’s Left To Say’, and the pop rock of ‘One Size Fits All’. Her songs are well formed and have some good hooks in the choruses and in the song’s melodies. The tone of the EP is upbeat and optimistic. This EP is a good taster as to what to expect on a full length album. With some radio and live performance exposure and confidence, Davis could go far.

The Rockin' Chik is gonna fly!

"Smiling with your eyes" is a really well produced ep with a variety of flavours. The cd is really well rounded with 2 genuine Pop rock songs, a beautiful melodic ballad and two fillers which are great tracks too. This Rockin' chik can really sing and weave her melodies and harmonies into hooky, riffy tunes she has written with her producer. I would love to see her use her vocal range to potential in her next recording or album endeavour. She has a unique characteristic in her voice in pronouncing some sylables that is kinda cute and gets me every time. You can tell she is a girl with attitude and I think destined for big things if she sticks to a game plan! You go girl!!! Jen
