Tamika Taylor
The Voice of a Healing Angel

Sometimes when you are looking for answers to daily challenges, a song will hold the keys of life.

"My voice is my gift from God... I am anointed, so I spread God's word through song", is Tamika Taylor's explanation of her an angelic voice. As we know, angels have a mission to watch over God's children. Through her lyrics, Tamika tries to lend healing words to all who are open to receive them. A constant theme in Tamika's songs is that if you have faith, no matter what the storms is, God & Jesus will see you through.
Singing in church since the age of 5, Tamika has always been musically active. From her first solo singing performance as a child, Tamika has been in several gospel groups throughout her teens into adulthood. She admits the groups were fun, but she is now dedicated to pursing a solo career. This wife and mother of 5, has her sights set on being a successful solo act-God willing.
Currently living in southern New Jersey, Tamika has begun to make quite a buzz in the Philadelphia-south Jersey gospel music scene. She has performed on the same stage with gospel greats such as Hezekiah Walker, Natalie Wilson, and Ricky Dillard. In August 2004 she was the grand prize winner of the "America's Anointed Talent Search" competition. In addition she has regularly performed at the Philadelphia jazz club Warmdaddy's as well as countless performances at local churches in the area.
Tamika's singing style is decidedly contemporary, although she was trained under traditional instruction. She likes to create music "new-school" style. "Along with my writing partner, Leah Wells, I write songs from personal experiences." From arranging, writing, to producing, this future gospel sensation does it all. She models herself in the likeness of her musical inspiration Yolanda Adams, Marvin Winans, Mary Mary, and Fred Hammond.
Tamika's debut CD "Fight On" contains a melting pot of musical styles, running the gamut of contemporary song styling from hard-hitting to beautifully melodic laced tracks. In the song Everything You Need, an up-tempo, Tamika tries to impress that having faith in the Lord, not man, will get you through good and bad times. On a more serene note, you feel Tamika introspectively sing Fight On the CD's title track. "This song is about being willing to fight through everything the world places on your shoulders "Out of confusion I gained a new perception of life, I learned that God wants give us victory in our lives but we have to be willing to fight", states Tamika. On third tune, that is bound to be a crossover hit, Tamika sings a cry for help on Rescue Me. Co-writer and partner, Leah says this song was inspired by personal feelings of being lost and desperate. Through God, she learned to breathe new life after asking for forgiveness.
