Album Notes

Tamara (Tammy) Harris is a talented vocalist and lyricist from Chicago, Illinois who is earning her cap as an arranger and producer as well. Tammy's music is a smooth blend of traditional R&B soul music fused with elements of Jazz & Funk. Tammy's style had been described by many as reminiscent of the timing and phrasing of Phyllis Hyman, the vibrato of Stephanie Mills, a waver like Denise Williams, and the class and style of Miss Nancy Wilson.

Tammy's debut album, Can't Keep A Good Woman Down", released in 2003 is a mix of funky grooves, attitude with raw emotions, yet feminine in every since of the word. "Can't Keep A Good Woman Down" offers the listener so much from start to finish.

Tammy's current project "Natural Vibe" offers a deeper listen into the artistry of Miss Harris. This release features remixes of both tunes by The Remix King, Grammy award winning Maurice Joshua and Rob Diggy whose credits include the Grammy winning re-mix of Crazy in Love for Beyonce. The title song is a collaboration with W. Terence Jackson out of Texas and Clarence Ferguson out of New York. The single is already creating a buzz. "Come Over" was a finalist in the Song of The Year songwriting contest sponsored by VH1 Save the Music for the month if August and "Baby I Need You" was a runner-up in the same contest for the month of November.

Top drawer stuff here. Fantastic new tunes mixed with quality covers. Right from the opening bars of Natural Vibe to the funky guitar riffs on the cover of the Brand New Heavies Never Stop this is a monster album. Real nice productions, live instruments and a killer voice. Fantastic album I have on heavy rotation on my car stereo. Congrats Tammy, keep it goin'.

Quality modern soul

This is a wonderful cd, blessedly free of hip hop beats and commercial 'r&b by numbers' influences. Tammy has a great voice, sweet on the slower tunes and powerful on the uptempo. with just a pinch of jazz added into the soul stew. I like the real instruments on this album too, adds plenty of depth to the arrangements. Excellent production job too, what more can you ask for? Now just stop reading this review and buy a copy so you can listen to what I'm talking about! I look forward to hearing more of Tammy's music in the future, I'm sure she's here to stay.
