Album Notes

Born in New York City, Steve grew up in Australia, Canada, and New York. The son of a jazz pianist and the grandson of a magician, he started performing early and learned music at home. Steve spent several years working odd jobs around the U.S., writing, performing, and developing a personal musical style of folk and rock.

2003's "Stopped at a Green Light" is Steve Tannen's second solo release. It features most of the musicians who played with Steve in NYC in the early 2000's; it also marks the beginning of his collaboration with Deb Talan, with whom he would soon form The Weepies.

REVIEWS

AS USUAL - AWESOME!

Steve Tannan is one of the best artists to arrive on the music front in many years! Stopped At a Green Light is another moving collection of music from an incredibly talented performer and an outstanding song writer. Listening to this CD is to experience a very positive, shoot-from-the-hip no holds barred emotional catharsis. Love him with Deb Talan in the Weepies, but I hope he continues his solo work as well.

Do Not Stop

Starts out strong and never holds back. Musically to me it sounds like the beginning of the Weepies sound. More upbeat than Big Senorita, and maintains the intelligent writing. I liked hearing "Rocks and Water" here since this one also made it onto the Weepies album but with Deb taking the lead vocals. A must have for Steve and/or Weepies fans. The day I discovered the Weepies was more than a 5 star day, getting Deb and Steve's back catalog has been equally rewarding.

Heard you originally through a Weepies tune

I was shocked to hear your ability on the guitar - awesome. Your voice is one of a kind and matches your lyrics style. I'm already trying one of your tunes out myself on my guitar, but some parts are tough as I'm a lefty who plays a right handed guitar upside down / backwards, but I'll keep trying. Thanks Roland

Infectious melodies, smart lyrics, and wonderful playing rolled into a seamless
author: alan neuenschwander
I'm not a kid. I just turned 50, but avid listeners never grow tired of timeless songwriting. This is simply good craft. Infectious melodies, smart lyrics, and wonderful playing all rolled into a seamless album. Is it better than BIG SENORITA? I don't know yet, but this is an artist with a bright future. I look forward to watching his career unfold.
