Album Notes

"Gedgedoonka Dunida", meaning the world is changing, is Tanya's maiden album that features Himilo in two tracks. It expresses a talented young artist's admiration for the Somali people. The album opens with relaxing sounds, and maintains the culture and traditions of Somali music, but with a different style. The tracks that continue are all rich in quality and able to impress at first hearing. The songs tell a story that can be understood by all through the rhythms and melodies played, and they leave you with a happy feeling.

This project is particularly unique from other songs Tanya has worked on. It reflects the fact that the world is truly changing, and this is a way to catch a glimpse of the Somali culture expressed through music. The track Gabadh Adag is particularly popular, as it speaks of the important role Somali women play in the family and in society.

The tracks are written and composed by Abdillahi Suleman Bidde, Mustafe Kiko, Mohamed Sugaal, Yusuf Buureed and Kayd Hassan, and all music is played by Ahmed Salah Qasim. Mohamed Aden (Himilo) is featured in tracks Laqan and Dookh.
