Album Notes

One of the best ways to describe what this duo has created is in the words of one of their biggest fans "This album rocks - I'd call it Adult Alternative". And that's a great way to describe what they have created. This album will appeal to anyone but definitely fills a void for people in their 30's - 40's.

Passion, power, introspect, clever, impeccable writing and a host of talented musicians that worked as a team to get this album out for Kayla & Steve.

John Hopkins of Atlanta, GA produced the album with Kayla & Steve. "Working with John was an awesome adventure. We trusted him enough to let him do his job and produce. That was a big step for us," says Kayla. "I think most artist are a little scared or nervous when they go into a studio with original material. These are your "kids" and you don't want them changed. But the changes that John made in our tunes were absolutely 100% for the best."

"The experience made us stronger musicians and better writers than when we walked through the doors. We were willing to be open-minded and trust," added Steve.

Working together through many different rock band situations, Kayla & Steve stripped down and became an acoustic duo so they could "regroup" and find a path they truly wanted to follow.

Their album 'Cross the Bridge' took a slight turn towards jazz & blues and as a result, the duo formed a Jazz Combo called "Kayla Taylor Jazz". They currently perform jazz & standards from the 40's & 50's 3 - 6 nights a week in Atlanta, GA. You can find out more about their current project at www.kaylataylorjazz.com. You can, of course, purchase their new live jazz CD at www.cdbaby.com/kaylataylorjazz. Check out what the duo has progressed to.

"While we still embrace our original tunes and we love them and want to write more", Kayla says, "it's been so fascinating to explore these new genres of music and see what writers were doing, thinking and performing long before the birth of rock & pop."

"These tunes have withstood the test of time," adds Steve, "and that's what makes a great song. The more we learn about jazz, blues and standards, the better musicians we become. That filters into the writing. It's been a great learning experience that has been nothing but rewarding."

Don't miss out on The Adventures of Kayla & Steve. This is honest, soulful music that grooves and just downright makes you smile.

This dynamic duo scores big with their seasoned compositions plus one cover. Theses songs were great songs to begin with, but here, have been finely crafted with keen musicians willing to make there own sound without falling into a formula, yet keeping the appeal to a wide spectrum of listeners. If you are a Tori Amos fan, you must here their rendition of Cornflake Girl. Steve’s guitar instead of piano puts a new feel on it and Kayla’s powerful voice, of which she knows when to restrain and when to blow it out, gives it a push to the edge that makes you want to repeat the track. This album has a timeless feel about it, meaning when you play it in 10 years, it sounds just as fresh as it did when you first heard it. Now that makes a great album!

This album has all the right parts. Steve's quality guitaring and Kayla's smooth, rich vocals are mixed perfectly, and each song stands on its own. Other Lover's Eyes is a brilliant piece of work!
