Album Notes

American tenor John Osborn and Bolivian American soprano Lynette Tapia, have made numerous appearances together in opera and concert. Both of them at very early ages began what most would call extremely fortuitous and very illustrious singing careers. Lynette won nearly every prestigious operatic and classical vocal competition in 1996 including First Prize in the George London Vocal Competition, Licia Albanese Puccini Foundation Competition, Metropolitan Opera National Council Auditions, and Placido Domingo's Operalia Vocal Competition. John was also a winner of the Metropolitan Opera National Council Auditions in 1994 and actually tied for First Prize in Domingo's Operalia Vocal Competition along with Lynette in 1996. Both singers, having been gifted with very high voices, flexibility, and technique reminiscent of the bel canto style of singing. This technique of singing was reinforced by the vocal instruction of the late Edward Zambara, with whom they both studied voice. Their particular abilities led them to be cast in numerous Donizetti, Bellini, and Rossini bel canto roles, along with many Mozart roles, and both have delved into the French repertoire as well. Lynette has continued to specialized in a wide variety of classical song recitals, concert appearances with important symphony orchestras, as well as numerous operatic appearances. John has maintained a career consisting mostly of operatic performances, numerous concert appearances, and occasional classical song recitals.
