Target Practice is a compilation that doubles as a look at what Backwoodz Studioz has on deck for 2007. Albums from The Super Chron Flight Brothers, The Invizibl Men and Hi-Coup. He might seem like a new face but Hi-Coup has been down with us since we first started working with Hasan Salaam and the whole 5th Column crew. Hi performed with The Reavers and tore down so many stages with us that we pretty much had to sign him. So now he is officially a Reaver and his solo album (Guerilla Jones) is almost wrapped and needless to say, it's dope. You already know Karniege from The Reavers and his work with Cannibal OX but if you dont know Marq Spekt yet, you will soon (if you are smart you'll grab a copy of any Bigg Jus or Broady Champs record and find out). Together they are the Invizibl Men and their debut
album will be dropping on backwoodz studioz soon. Lyrically, Karni and Spekt keep it raw like a butcher's smock and the beats are definitely on some next shit. But before we get ahead of ourselves, judging by the response to
his work with The Reavers and his mixtape Bioluminscence, Keith Masters is making a name for himself. The kid has been locked in the lab steadily putting work in on both another mixtape and his magnum opus debut LP; Ghost City. And what of Billy Woods and Priviledge aka The Super Chron Flight Brothers?
Well, the album is called "Emergency Powers; the world tour". Production is handled by Bond aka 007, MF DOOM and DR MONOKROME among others and it features guestspots from Cannibal OX, Trife da God, The Reavers, and Marq Spekt. Emergency Powers is going to be the first to drop, in early 07 and
after that the floodgates are open. So Target Practice is a peek at what we have going on, most of the tracks on here are exclusives and won't show up on any of those albums. And before I forget, a bunch of our friends got involved too:
Hassan Chop (from the King Gheedorah LP)
Kong & Megalon from the legendary Monsta Island Czars (look out for Kong's "Shackles Off LP" & Megalon's "Nickelbag")
Goldenchild,
AKIR (if you haven't heard it, go pick up "Legacy", his 2006 debut LP)
B.A.R.O.N. of Red Clay
Lo-Deck & Omega One
The Prof. (Nature Sounds)
Nathaniel Roberts
DJ Gman (producer of Big Jus' Poor People's Day)
Nasa (Uncommon Music/Definitive Jux)

And remember... this is just Target Practice
