ANTHOLOGOS is a collection of music, short fiction and poetry from the first 250 broadcasts of THEME AND VARIATIONS, the weekly showcase for music and the spoken word heard on NPR member stations and radio reading services for the visually impaired.
The musicians and poets featured on this CD represent a sampling of the new talent appearing each month on the THEME AND VARIATIONS "Open Forum" series. Here are some of today's finest composers and songwriters at work, along with poems read by five amateur and professional writers.
Featured on this CD are two tales of lost love by Guy de Maupassant and F. Scott Fitzgerald, as well as a compelling reading of Henry Wadsworth Longfellow's "My Lost Youth" by the poet's descendant Layne Longfellow.
