Or, "The Everyman Chronicles
author: Charles Johnson
Where can I begin about Taylor Harvey's awesome album "No Loitering?"
I sometimes think that this album should have been entitled "The Everyman Chronicles", because in each and everyone of these tracks, there is someone each and everyone of us can relate to. In one track, you may know this guy, or in another, you may be THAT guy. Take for example in the rollicking "100,000 Mile Broke Down Greasy Hand Blues"...before most of us were aware of AAA, how many of us haven't been broken down on the side of the road with neither a cell phone signal or a degree in auto maintennance to our name? Or, the hapless deliveryman in "Melancholy Pizza Guy", who dreamed of something better, but somehow in an ironic twist of life, ended up asking "would you like a coke and crazy bread with your order, sir?" This song drives home the theory from Mr. Billy Shakespeare that comedy and tragedy can, and often do, co-exist in the same play.
But the song that truly speakes volumes is the opening track, "Life Is Too Short". "If I could have the money back I spent having a ball/I'd pay off all my credit cards and buy a shopping mall." Amen. So many other great songs, so little bandwidth in this review page.
Taylor's rich, warm baritone and solid playing from all the players in the band make this a great listening experience for the everyman/everywoman in all of us. So, dear reader, I implore you...stop reading this rambling review and buy this album. You won't regret it.

This has to be the best CD put out by San Diegos hometown musicians ever!!! What a wonderful compilation of ballads, blues and good old rock'n roll. His next CD can't come out soon enough. We are so proud to host him at our house concert later this month (May 24).

No Loitering has someything for everyone. From the acoustic ballads Life Is Too Short and Twist Of Fate that bring a young Buffet to mind, to the roadhouse type rockers 100,000 Mile Broken Down Greasy Hand Blues and Don't Tread On Me, Taylor Harvey has woven together an album of cleverly written and well crafted songs. Sunglasses and White Trash Blues are sure to bring a smile to your face, while the beautiful I Remenber You and The Bottom Line will make one sit back and think. This album is sure to find a place in any music lovers collection and will be loitering in ones stereo for a long time.
