BIOGRAPHY

Joe Taylor started off in Toronto, Canada as a singer/songwriter for the James Band. The band had a Blue Rodeo/Beatles-meets-Eric Clapton type of feel. With some local television and newspaper coverage they played all over the greater metropolitan area of Toronto. They released two independent CDs with their own original tunes in 1996 and 1999.

In 2000, Joe worked with local Oshawa producer and guitarist, Jeff Ross, to form Taylor Ross. They began work on a new CD, Heartfelt Graffiti, and soon found local radio stations in New Jersey (Cyberstorm Radio), Pennsylvania (WDIY 88.1 FM), and Kingston, Ontario (91.9 FM The Cave), putting the five song promo version of Heartfelt Graffiti into rotation.

While playing at The Vox in Toronto, Joe’s music was heard by two people who just happened to be walking by after a long day’s work at Toybox Studios - Paul Shubot (post audio supervisor/re-recording mixer) and Alfie Di Pucchio (audio engineer/sound editor.) A few hours later that very night Joe recorded three original songs live off the floor at the studio under the engineering of Shubot and Di Pucchio, insisting on capturing Joe’s rock-solid voice. It was this recording that launched the beginning of Joe’s career as a solo artist. Soon after, he recorded a live showcase for a local cable network, Cogeco Channel 3, in Kingston, Ontario. His performance was broadcast regionally throughout Ontario.

September 2004 marked Joe’s first live performance as a solo artist at CBGB’s 313 Gallery in New York City. After relocating to NYC the following month, he booked a gig at The Knitting Factory’s Tap Room solidifying Joe Taylor’s arrival in the Big Apple. He continues to play at several NYC venues such as The Bitter End, Kenny’s Castaway, The Red Lion, C-Note, and The Back Fence.

In Dec of 2006 Joe met with Los Angeles music producer Jeff Gross and GRAMMY winning engineer Matty Spindel (Santana, Don Henley, Tom Petty, Fleetwood Mac, Bruce Hornsby, Motley Crue, Rick Springfield, All-4-One, Vince Neil, George Benson, Tom Scott, Scorpions, KISS, WAR) and is working on a demo CD through their label, Red Road Music. Joe continues to work along with some of LA's best songwriters including Hillary Bernstein (Sony Music), Kevin Fisher (Sara Evans, Rascal Flatts), and Michael Lords (American Idol) on new material for Joe’s album. Songs are currently being pitched to television networks and Joe looks forward to television exposure.

Joe continues to perform throughout the United States at several colleges and universities, festivals, and night clubs. He has expanded into such major cities as Chicago, Washington D.C., Los Angeles, Las Vegas, San Francisco, Boston, Houston, and Philadelphia. You can hear Joe’s radio interviews broadcasted on local and regional radio stations as well as on the Internet. Listeners have said Joe’s sound penetrates deep within the heart – “an electrifying and powerful voice which reminds us of classic rock at its finest”, “a mix of Rod Stewart, Don Henley, and Steve Perry for 2007”, “soulful and timeless.”

Short but sweet CD, coming in at around 26 mins. Well, what can I say? This guy can really sing. It's not often I buy a CD on Myspace Music because there are just TOO many artists out there, but I really wanted this gem (and it really is) in my collection. Tracks 'Life' and 'Try': Mostly I find these vocals soothing and overwhelmingly hearty. 'Cheetah': This track is almost out of place on the CD, but it can be forgiven because of its uniqueness. Guitar work fits lyric like a glove. There's a very old Western feel to it as well. No one writes like this anymore, and oddly enough I find it refreshing. The STYLE of the vocals on this track definitely suits this singer's voice as much as the other tracks, if not more! Favourite tracks are: 'Life', 'Try', 'Cheetah' and 'So High'.
