Album Notes

2002 has just seen the release of Taylor's debut solo project, entitled “Picture the Scene.” Working closely with the album's producer, Alex McKinney, Taylor has worked to create a record loaded with thoughtful, honest songs that are genuine representations of their author (and several friends who deny ever knowing Taylor).

Following the release of "Picture the Scene," Taylor will continue to be dedicated to providing energetic performances filled with emotion, strength, and really bad jokes. Backed by percussionist Brian Tavener and violinist Mark Nippert, Taylor will tour in support of the record. If you are interested in bringing them to you, they are probably interested in being brought… so check out Taylor's booking information on www.taylorrobertsmusic.com! See you at the show!

Taylor's an amazing songwriter!
author: Lori A.
Having become an avid fan of Taylor Roberts Music - now glorydive - over the past several months, I didn't consider buying this CD for a long time. I love Mark and Brian, too, and felt like the music wouldn't be the same without them. Plus some of these songs are on the other albums, and it seemed redundant to buy this one. Thanks to cdbaby's excellent LONG samples of songs, though, "Ring" caught my attention and "Whisper Away" sounded different enough (and good enough) to pique my curiosity; so I bought "Picture the Scene". I thought the lyrics on "This Weather" packed a punch, but this one spoke to my soul! I can't stop listening to it, reading the lyrics, and singing it to myself. Being a North Carolina resident, the disappearance of Kristen Modafferi was a daily concern for quite some time; hearing "The Ring" and realizing that Taylor wrote it in honor of Kristen was heart-wrenching! I hope her parents love this song and sing it to her as I do every day. "Whisper Away" is one of those pretty-sounding songs that you'll sing a dozen times before it really sinks in... then you go Whoa! It's not as polished here as on "Show and Tell", but Taylor's voice is rich and wonderful, making it well worth having both versions. The last song here, "Remember You", brought back every lost love of my life! The melancholy feel of this song will tie your heart in a knot yet somehow leave you soothed at the same time. Listening to Taylor sing is like having an all-night personal conversation with your best friend. Even if the subject is painful, your spirit is lifted because you've shared the burden with someone who understands what you're experiencing. Taylor is a truly gifted and unpredictable poet. Couple that with the softer, more introspective sound of his voice on this album, and it's a must-have whether you're a longtime fan or a newbie!
