Album Notes

Thom Brennan started creating his soundscapes and rhythmic journeys in the early 1980's, releasing his debut album "Mountains" in 1987.

Inspired by landscapes of the American southwest and Pacific Northwest, his self-produced albums have defined a unique and organic style of sound painting...a colorful and private world of harmonic tapestries.

In addition to a series of solo productions, collaborations with soundworld composer Steve Roach appeared on the CD "Western Spaces", and later the Projekt Records compilation "Amplexus".

Recordings have been released on Rubicon Records (Canada), Phonogram (France), Amplexus / Arya (Italy), Projekt, Fortuna, Space For Music, AtmoWorks, and his own RainGarden Music.

Quality

Dreamy evolving pads, bells and gentle sequences. Parts 1 and 2 are mainly an evolving sequence with layers of synth texture in the background. For Part 3 the sequences slow and fade to leave an evolving texture and gentle bells. Part 3 has an occasional high pitched tone that I found a little harsh at first, though this is obviously meant to be an integral part of the experience, and may not be obtrusive for others. Part 4 seems to sum up all that has gone before it with some earlier motifs reappearing. This is high quality ambient music.
