Terry Christopher
Bio ~
Terry Christopher calls New York City home but says that having been born and raised in Las Vegas, Nevada otherwise known as the City of Entertainment, had a huge impact in his love affair with the stage. At an early age the performing bug bit him and he has never looked back. Though Terry received his BFA in dance, singing and songwriting were always in the mix. His new CD, Take Another Look, is the result of that love affair.
After a few years on the road touring Europe, the U.S., Canada and Mexico in musical stage productions, being a featured lead singer in various revues and getting his groove on for choreographers like Barry Lather, Arlene Phillips, Jerry Jackson and Michael Peters, Terry decided it was time to write down his words and sing his own songs. With so much free time while on the road, notebook after notebook were filled with lyrics and song ideas. Those ideas were placed on hold until the time was right and they are now breathing freely on his new disc, Take Another Look.
Each track is a standout single that takes the listener in a different direction in the mood it evokes, lyric meaning and musical arrangement. The melodies are easily identified with a touch of blue-eyed soul; the choruses are filled with big hooks, slick grooves and tight harmonies with such easy recall that you will very likely be humming the tunes long after the music stops. Musical influences are wide and varied from Marvin Gaye, Billy Joel, Earth Wind and Fire and the Beatles to Elton John, John Cougar Mellencamp and countless others.
Terry has recently been performing all around the great New York City area at The Elbow Room, CBGB's, The Bitter End, The C-Note, Pegasus, NYU's Violet Cafe and Hanna's Lava Lounge! Make sure to see Terry live at one of the above mentioned venues or check out www.TerryChristopher.com for up coming performance dates.
The 10 tracks making up Terry's album, Take Another Look have been licensed by MTV for the program MADE! 2 new songs yet unreleased which will be on Terry's forthcoming album also made the cut as well!
London based KlubKat writes -
"I have to say straight away that the quality of workmanship in the music here is nothing short of a breath of fresh air. We get so many CDs and demos dropping onto the mat here at KlubKat that we have recently had to go through them all and seriously narrow down the list of discs that would get a review, and it is no mistake that Terry Christopher is one of the first through the gate...if Terry keeps pushing his art as he clearly has been throughout his life, then the only way is up...Mr Christopher will no doubt end up with something of a fanbase in this country, but the real hits will be at home.
Roxanne Blanford writes in Stylusmagazine.com -
"Man, you got something truly good going on here....
Terry Christopher's voice is even, mellifluous, inviting and all-comforting...Take Another Look is a concise, rhythm-infused, hook-happy assortment of wide-appeal music, delivered just for the sheer joy of it. So, just enjoy".
ScoreRocks! writes -
"Terry's tunes are a mix of pop moods, danceable stylings and techno vibes with lyrics that repeat themselves until you are singing along...'And There You Were' is a hopeful ode to all of us singles".
Mark Anderson of Capitalmen says -
"Terry Christopher makes a soft rock offering in CD which steps up to the plate on a techincal level in a fine way...The musical arrangements are indeed fresh and vivacious exhibiting a lot of originality..."
The Celebrity Cafe.com says -
"Terry is a mix of Boy Bands and Ricky Martin...there's just a tad bit of energy and power in "Take Another Look"...for an indie album, it's quite good".
Daniel Jenkins of Outvoice calls the single
Freedom Love Love Freedom "A pro-diversity ANTHEM"!!!
This 10-song set is a listener worthy example of Terry's songwriting ability that delivers strong melodies, smooth harmonies with his lyrics sending a 1-2 punch. Once you have heard this 10 song, hook filled set, you'll find that you need to not only Take Another Look but also another listen as well.
