notes
Southern rock pioneer, Tom Crain, from Franklin, Tennessee, is best known for his two decades of work with the Charlie Daniels Band. He wrote songs and performed on over 20 CDB albums, winning a grammy for "The Devil Went Down To Georgia." Tom has played with countless other artists, and his fiery guitar work is always recognizable.
The Crosstown Allstars are not only a sought after rhythm section, but regularly appear around the Atlanta area as a stand alone act. Their ability to deliver honest, heart-felt blues, southern rock, classic R&B and jazz make them a definite crowd pleaser. The band members have played with such diverse acts as Cheap Trick, John Lee Hooker, Mountain, Little Feat, Georgia Satellites, Jaimoe, Tinsley Ellis, Albert Collins, Luther Ingram, Roy Buchanan and the Marshall Tucker Band.
Michael Buffalo Smith, Editor of Gritz Magazine who recently saw the band perform, writes, "Tommy Crain and The Crosstown Allstars took the stage next, and simply burned on a 45-minute set of original blues rock. Crain has truly put together an amazing band, recorded an equally amazing album, and is sounding better than ever."
"Give It To Ya," is the first studio effort from this exciting band. Recorded in late 2004/early 2005, the CD highlights the bands diversity and musicianship. A live CD from the band is also available.

Tommy back in the highlights
author: FrankCDB. Great band. Actually, two great bands. Here in Holland we prefer the band with Tommy in it very. Why? Just listen to what Tommy gives to ya on this CD: great bluesy Southern rock with lots of own songs and a superbe Al Green cover. Buy it, and wait for what comes next.

I knew Tommy Crain thru the CDB. Never really singled him out...just figured it was the whole CDB sound (which I totally love). Someone gave me the news about the new cd. So I listened on line and immediately loved it. I like every cut. I ordered one for my sister as well. Only wished they had been autographed. This will be one of my major stocking stuffers this Christmas. Great music, great band! Wish you guys great success. God Bless you!
Bring on the Live One!!!
author: Bigboar88There is only a handful of original Southern rock guitar players alive or not(IE: Toy Caldwell, Warren Haynes, Dickey Betts, Steve Gaines, Duane Allman and of course Billy Crain)So to get a Sound that is what I grew up with you have to wait until somebody like Tommy Crain puts together a new project. Well my friends he did and it is old school Cool. Tommys style is creative and not copied. Remember when guitarist would take a long lead that blew you away? It's in there. Remember when there was a gospel feel and you couldn't sit still and had to dance along? It in there. How about blues that would make you Cry? This CD has it. Or how about a remake that was your favorite song years ago and now its redone better than the original? Check out "Take me to the River". "21st century mojo man" has alternating guitar and keyboards then the guitars alternate in a battle of styles that is what southern rock was buit on. Just when you think the song has everything the vocals pull out a megaphone sound that gives it an old technology meets new effect. These guys earned the title allstar years ago and deserve to use the name today. Seems I waited a life time for a new favorite band to come along but now there here. Any CD that these guys make I will purchase on the day of release. I cant wait to hear what's next. CDB should have never lost Tommy but now that we got him back the world is a better place again. (Sorry Charlie)
Crain Does It Again!
