Album Notes

The Educated Consumers are the collective of producer t.E.C.K! and emcee SeezMics. The two began working with one another in December of '99. t.E.C.K! expressed an interest in working with SeezMics when the producer heard a few of the emcee's tracks with the Anonomous Crew. He heard a voice that matched the feel of his beats, and the two began laying out rough sketches of songs on a 4 track. By the summer of '00, the two had decided to record the best 16 cuts and package them as an album.

SeezMics describes their musical relationship: "The first time I went to his house, this dude hands me three beat tapes. All three were full on both sides, and each tape had a wide variety of beats - some party cuts, some thought provoking beats... I knew we'd work well together because our output is similar: I'm always writing songs, and the quality, quantity, and variety of his beats provided the perfect match for my lyrics.

"t.E.C.K!'s experience as a producer is based in the art of cratedigging. His impressive collection of grooves and classic hip-hop form an inspiring resource pool for beats. t.E.C.K!'s groove tape "Mystery of Ages" is a testament to his knowledge about music from all genres.

SeezMics experience as an emcee is based on his previous work with the Anonomous Crew and his involvement in D.C. area open mics and battles. His strength is his ability to say something important in an entertaining way.

My Top 5 Hip Hop album

This is exactly how hip hop should be. Seez Mics sticks to themes on just about every song and the beat and rhymes blend perfectly. I have yet to hear an MC that can stick to every theme with a consistency of witt that Seez Mics posseses. This album has quickly moved into my Top 5 hip hop joints of all time.

Funky alternative semi-oldschool HIP HOP with an MC who is popular in DC for his freestyles and written rhymes and a producer who is most known for his ill beats on Mystery of the Ages. Creative stuff, reaching for the uncommon sound, listen closely to that sonic collage going on behind. The genius in the details. And the MC's got a charisma that draws you in, letting you know he isn't just imitating or posturing, this is natural and REAL.
