Italian-Polish singer/actress Maria Tecce brings her inimitable style of jazz-based music once again to Dublin in "Torch Song" on October 1st, Friday, in the opulent 'Spiegeltent' venue for The Dublin Fringe Festival 2004 . Originally from Boston and now based in Dublin, Maria has not only garnered acclaim for her acting work but is also one of Ireland's foremost vocalists and Irish critics have raved about her live performances, interpretation of material, and original work. Her sold-out one-woman jazz cabaret shows and music gigs have played to packed houses all over Ireland, highlighting one of the most entrancing qualities of Maria's music - her wide audience appeal and universal pull for jazz, folk, blues, and theatre lovers alike.

After the recent release of her debut album "All About Love" and a sold-out run of her previous show of the same name in the ESB Dublin Fringe Festival 2002 & 2003 (Ireland) and in The Helix (Dublin) Maria is fast becoming a bright and fiery star on the music & acting scenes here in Ireland. Her cabaret show "Lush Life" continued to highlight not only the jazz chanteuse's scintillating and acclaimed vocal talents but also the demonstrative and effortless acting skills of a seasoned actor and performer. Both shows have played to sold-out houses in the U.K., U.S.A., and Ireland.

Guest appearances this past year saw Maria supporting Dionne Warwicke at her sold-out gig in Vicar St. in March, an invitation from Jerry Fish to appear with him at his special 2003 New Year's concert in The Ambassador, Dublin, sharing the stage with Irish Legend Ronnie Drew, and a request to appear with Pat Kenny on his RTE Radio 1 chat show after her stellar performances with her one-woman shows "Lush Life" October 2003 and "Once Upon A Christmas" in The Helix December 2003.

Originally from Boston, this Italian-American landed on her feet in Ireland and over the last 2-3 years (she's lived here for 5 years, a 'legal alien' for 2 of them...) has garnered among her musicians members of bands from Van Morrison, Jools Holland, Paul Brady, Eleanor McEvoy, and Lisa Stansfield. Gigs at top live venues in Ireland quickly followed at top venues such as Whelan's, The Gaiety Theatre, The Olympia Theatre, The Helix, Spirit, Vicar St., Cork Opera House, and wealth of national venues and theatres. Maria has been invited back three years running to the renowned Guinness International Jazz Festival in Cork, Ireland which attracts the cream of music artists from all over the world and played to a sold-out audience at last year's Bray Jazz Festival (Ireland). This multi-talented diva's original songs have also gained notoriety and are included on two separate CD compilations featuring the likes of Grammy Award Winners John Prine, Bruce Mathiske, Ron Sexsmith, and Bella Fleck as well as Irish artists Jack L, Juliet Turner, Damien Rice, David Kitt, Paddy Casey, Hazel O'Connor, and Luka Bloom.

Maria's first professional acting job in Ireland only a year and a half ago found her smack in the middle of Ireland's most popular soap opera "Fair City" as the icy American boss from hell Camille Barnett. Since then, this stunning performer has never looked back. Her television debut was quickly followed by Corca Corca Theatre Company's sell-out success "A Midsummer Night's Dream", where Maria played the two leading men's roles 'Oberon' and 'Theseus', a featured role in Jim Sheridan's new film "In America", and the continuing success of her one-woman jazz cabaret shows in Dublin and European theatre festivals. She recently co-starred in Frank Shouldice's new play and comic hit "A Few White Lies" in Andrew's Lane Theatre, Dublin, and continued her theatre and music performance in "Lush Life", a one-woman cabaret show produced especially for last year's ESB Dublin Fringe Festival 2003. Maria also co-stared in the European premiere of the Canadian play "Very Heaven" which ran at The Focus Theatre, Dublin earlier this year with rave reviews.

Dear Ma'am! Your Cd is just as great as your perfomance was when I got to know you as one in the audience here in Prage. (maybe a bit too much of digital remastering) The less instrument there is the better you come through. Thank you and I look forward to your next visit. Best regards,
