The Chicago Spirituals is a gospel group that blends contemporary and traditional gospel like no other group ever has. The group is anchored by international favorite Tecora Rogers who has toured extensively throughout Europe performing gospel with the Shirley Wahls Singers and as a solo artist performing jazz and gospel.

In 2003, Tecora was offered the opportunity to bring her own group to Europe and she established the Chicago Spirituals. The group completed their first European tour successfully in December 2004. They performed in Basagliapenta, Rapallo, Terlizzi, Sicily and many other cities throughout Italy. In fact, their tour was so successful they were immediately invited back to perform in 2005 at many of the same venues as well as others.
The Chicago Spirituals were very fortunate to have Tecora Rogers, Lead Soprano / Alto; Tatia Gore, Soprano; Joyce Faison, Tenor; Corneal Harper, Jr., Baritone; and Kevin Smith, Musical Director as part of the group. Each person played a key role to the success of the group’s 2004 tour.

Although there were a couple of group member changes, the 2005 tour was more successful and introduced the Chicago Spirituals’ first CD.

The current group line-up includes: Tecora Rogers, Group Leader Soprano / Alto; Betty Jones, Alto; Corneal Harper, Jr., Baritone; Kevin Smith, Musical Director / Pianist. and our newest members Marilyn Hearns, Soprano; Ann Bridges, Soprano and Devin Thompson, Tenor.

From Thomas A. Dorsey to Mahalia Jackson, Chicagoans have been the center of the progress of gospel music for decades. With Tecora Rogers at the helm and Kevin Smith's musical direction, the Chicago Spirituals continue this epic journey.
