Produced, recorded and engineered by Leon-Forrest and Paul Carlsen (The Doors, Nirvana, Greg Allman), Born to the Blues is Ted Vaughn's latest release on Harbinger Northwest Records.
Born to the Blues combines Ted's rock solid vocals and blues harp that carries the influence of such greats as Paul Butterfield,Sam Meyer and Sonny Boy Williamson.
Some of the finest West Coast musicians are featured on this collection of blues standards and originals.
Don Wickstrom (The Roadside Prophets) lends addictive lead guitar riffs to each track. Dobro master Bill Dalbey shines on the stellar version of Lowell Fulson's classic "Reconsider Baby" and teams up with Leon Forrest's keyboards on the haunting original, "Uncertain, Texas".
Drummer Tom Johnson and guitarist Jack Pine also of "The Roadside Prophets", round out the rhythm section. Born to the Blues is a must have for lovers of blues and American music.
"...After nearly 26 years in radio I must confess that this is one of the most uplifting performances in the bluesland...the feeling is what it's all about. Ted got it..."

Good Ol' Blues
author: LukeJust like the title of this posting says, this CD is a good ol' blues cd. It's not an over-polished cd..just a bunch of good blues musicians playing some great blues. The instruments stand out...the harmonica is featured and is brilliant, and the vocals are pure. There is enough modern musical taste in this, mixed with some deep roots blues (Sonny Boy type of stuff), to make you happy and want to get your guitar or harmonica out and play along. "Uncertain Texas" is great and I agree with all of these postings. This song should have a movie made out of it. I'd love to hear the band live...it would probably be even that much better!
Born to the Blues
author: Lee FoxThis CD is awesome! I recently heard Ted Vaughn sing LIVE with a great band on the Oregon coast. Everyone needs to hear his song, UNCERTAIN TEXAS -it makes you homesick, makes you laugh and makes you cry. Teds voice is expressive and he brings a touch of imagination and fun into all his lyrics. It's that sound you can listen over and over and never get tired of hearing...guess he's a guy who is truely "BORN TO THE BLUES".
A Real Kicker....
What is Blues ??? Blues is Ted Vaughn ! After nearly 26 years in radio I must confess that this is one of the most uplifting performances in the bluesland. I wouldn´t miss a chance to insert this CD to my personal collection. Reconsider Baby .... Reconsider Ted. The feeling is what´s it´s all about. Ted got it ... Lars G Lindberg Radio Siljan Sweden
Authentic
author: DaveThis is the most authentic blues music I've heard in a long time...Ted Vaughn is the real deal. I keep my juice harp handy to play along with a few of the songs. Can't wait till your next one is out.

Blues are back with style
author: Judie C.This is the most awesome blues CD I've every heard. Harps and vocals are outstanding..love it. While all of the songs are outstanding "uncertain Texas" will hold special memories for everyone while "Hoochie Coochie Man" will grab your soul. We have seen Ted perform live and he is a true professional in every form of music. I recommend this CD strongly !
old skool blues with great production..
author: randelFirst off let me say i've seen this guy live many times and this blues cd just takes it to the next level. The unmistakeable Gibson wail, the backwoods cry of the dobro in talented hands, the fierce scream of blues harp played with both anger and deep understanding of the material. Vocals are solid and sound as if Ted shot a glass of fire and chased it down with broken glass and gravel...now thats the blues! Of course i have my favorites; red house, reconsider baby, and the other day whilst cleaning my shop i was unconsciously singing TV Mama... All are exceptional but the one that continues to haunt me is the original compostion "uncertain, texas" I defy anyone who listens, reeeeeaaalllly listens, to not long for those easier days...fishing with dad, smell of the bog, cooler of beer, crickets, old mans beard, comfort of days long gone...Thanks for the trip Ted, hopefully i'll be able to repay you with a bucket load of Les Paul and wheelbarrel of Marshall on your stage someday....
