Album Notes

Biography

I am an experienced musician and a songwriter over the past 25 years and my main instruments are guitar, bass, percussions and of course vocals. I was involved and very active in arranging for young writers in the 70's-80's.

In 1977-1990 I wrote a play called "Sounds of Soweto" and we performed at the Royal Albert Hall in London and toured widely, including USA and the most Europe.

In 1991 I launched my own label which I named "LEBO Production", where I produced my first album called "Manone" and it reached to number one on Radio Metro in South Africa for 3 months . I then followed it up with another album in 1995 called "AYOYO" under Record Company TCB in Switzerland, Montreux. It was distributed in Japan, South Africa, Europe and London.

One of many performances was with the famous Dizzy Gilespie in Ronny Scotts London. As well I am proud to have played with the late Dudu Pukwana. I also played with Ossie Bissa, Miriam Makeba and most recently with Rene McLane, the son of the well- known Jacky McLane and many others.

Currently I am working in my studio, recording and refreshing some of my old materials and helping others with re-arrangements on their songs. Most recently I have taken on an opportunity of teaching music in a youth centre, which is sponsored by Yamaha.

I think Tefo should come back to S.A so that these up-coming musicians could listen what African music means. Keep up a good work home boy. We are missing you folk.
