This was a session from 1989 originally produced by Drew Gress. Despite promising bites from record companies, it ultimately languished until David Kane released the CD on his own label. This band was one of the best progressive Jazz groups to come out of DC, not the least due to the brilliant playing of underground drum legend Mike Smith who unfortunately passed away shortly before the CD was released. Glenn Cashman, Drew Gress and David Kane went on to their own successful careers and remain good friends today. The tunes are dominated by Drew Gress who even in 1989 was forging his own unique compositional voice. The music includes two venerable standards but also three tracks (Eostar, 29 and Groove One) that owe a lot to the Avant-garde.
