Album Notes

TEMPERAMENTAL INTERACTIVE TRIO (Stephen Horenstein, baritone saxophone; Jean Claude Jones,
bass; Loic Kessous, computer and live electronics), founded in 2005, works collaboratively on spontaneous extended
compositions and a shared textural language, using technology to extend the sound capabilities of traditional instruments.
The Trio has just released it's first CD, "Raw and the Cooked" on the Kadima Collective Recordings label.

JC JONES moved from France to study music in the States before settling in Israel where he switched from guitar to double bass . Then he moved from traditional jazz to improvised free music. More recently he has added electronics and computers to his musical repertoire. JC JONES has been a prime mover in the avant garde music community collaborating with many artists in Israel and in Europe. As past chair of the Jazz Department at the Jerusalem Academy of Music and Dance he has also been an important mentor among the new generation of musicians.

STEPHEN HORENSTEIN is an American-born (1948) Jerusalem composer-performer, whose repertoire of works (orchestra, ensembles, solo, sound installation and electronics) has been performed and recorded worldwide. Performances have included major festival venues in France, England, Italy, Germany, Finland, Russia, China, Luxembourg and the United States. As founder of the Jerusalem Institute of Contemporary Music, and faculty member of Brandeis University, Bennington College (USA), and Jerusalem Academy of Music and Dance, Horenstein has inspired generations of young musical pioneers.

LOIC KESSOUS is a French computer artist-musician, who is currently visiting Israel as a researcher at Tel Aviv University. He has been working on projects involving speech synthesis. In his work with the trio, he is using a number of tools, including the graphical programming environment Max/MSP/Jitter to design the software part of the instruments.
