Good album.

This album sounds good, and the music is good with some crazy lyrics, and good production for a debut album not even on a record lable.

An eclectic collection of very powerful, complex and stunning songs

Template are, to put it simply, an amazingly talented progressive rock trio. Fronted by the eccentric, over-the-top Mike Mills (guitar/vocals), and with drummer Peter Martin and bassist Jarrod Ross in support, they make for a very entertaining and eclectic combination. If you're a fan of classic rock, progressive rock, or progressive metal, there's something on this album for you. The CD does have some obvious influences here and there (Led Zeppelin and Tool for example), but the overall sound of the record is very unique. The highlight of the album is the opening track (well, technically it's two tracks): "Opening Credits" / "Holly Wouldn't". It's a 10-minute journey through music not normally visited by Australian bands, kicking in with riffery that could be described as Led Zeppelin meets Dream Theater, and progressing into jazzy musicians-wet-dream instrumental sections. This song truly has it all... complex musical passages that would please the musicians and prog-junkies among us, as well as very strong songwriting sense which makes it a good song to listen to without having to try to 'keep up' with the music. The rest of the album is an extremely eclectic mix of many different styles, so you never grow tired of the album regardless of your musical preference and background. Make no mistake though, the 3 members of the band are incredible musicians that will impress you on a number of occasions through the record. Jarrod Ross in particular brings a lot to the table with some incredible bass-lines that groove like nobody's business, and the effects he uses keep his sound from becoming stale or boring. There really isn't a lowlight on the entire album. I love it from start to finish and am proud of the fact that such an amazing band comes from Australia. With the band being highlighted on Triple M's "Launchpad" series, there is a chance we might be hearing a lot more from Template in the future. At the very least, we can all hope like hell they make it big because if their live show is anything to go by, these guys are going to be massive. In summary, a few days ago I received an SMS message from a friend of mine simply stating "that Template CD is fucking sick, it's one of the best CDs I own". That about sums up my thoughts on the album as well.

Good, very good indeed

I'll keep it simple: Incredible band live, I was totally blown away the first time I saw them, and the album is a very good documentation of their live show, certainly of the gigs I have attended. Different and moving, Template work the old rock music cliches and then surprise you and take it to the next level, and they do both very well. Great line up, can't wait to hear what they do next.
