Album Notes

Close your eyes. Think about that first time, back when you were a kid, that you ate McDonalds. That big happy clown told you that McDonalds is really what you want to eat, and you believed him because hey, who wouldn’t trust a clown? Maybe your mom, tired of cleaning up after such a soul-sucking young heathen, took you there to save herself just one night of your continuing mission to throw everything put in front of you to the floor. You rolled up past those golden arches; the smell of that deep fried triple A ambrosia pulled you in, beckoning like a cheap hooker on a Vegas street corner. You sunk your gums into that first cheeseburger – pretty good, right? And what’s this? It even comes with a sweet toy?!

Now open your eyes.

Tenant is a four piece quasi-progressive-heavy-rock-slash-melodic- metal-with-some-pretty-cool-ambient-breaks band based in the glorious suburbs of Vancouver, BC. These four young stallions have been best friends for the majority of their lives, and have been playing in this band together since high school. Unlike a lot of bands, Tenant has never had a member change in their 5 years of existence, and have thus been able to work towards a unique (yeah I know, everyone says they’re unique) mesh of styles and startlingly fresh sound.

Most of Tenant’s 5 years have been spent honing their craft and getting as much experience as possible playing the Vancouver scene. Now that they’re all a little older and have played enough shows to save up and buy things like a sweet ’94 Dodge Ram van, Tenant is ready to take their sound to the masses. The young lads in Tenant are poised on the release of their first full-length record – recorded independently at Mushroom Studios with Aaron Nordean and Shawn Penner – on February 24th, 2007. It’s called “All My Favourite Bands Are Breaking Up”. Yeah, I know, pretty sweet name for a CD. They know that they could probably just load it up on the internet and promote it that way, but Tenant is a little stubborn (and have a sweet ’94 Dodge Ram van) and so they’re doing a cross Canada tour in Spring ’07 to promote the new record. They got their practice by touring B.C. and Alberta last fall and figured hey, if we can go to Edmonton, we can totally go to Montreal.

So it’s game time. Tenant is about to explode. Usually when four young gentlemen explode you’d be like “GROSS!” but this time you’re going to be all “AWESOME!!”. Yeah, awesome.

I was really impressed with how much effort these guys put into this album. Its obvious just from opening the jewel case that you're in for an adventure. Each song has something really different to offer yet it still feels like every song fits perfectly on the album. Why aren't you guys signed with a major label yet?
