Album Notes

With the release of "Live at the Chandler Center," Ten Dollar Outfit continues to blur the lines between jazz, rock, and folk. Recorded live on August 20, 2006 at the state-of-the-art live music venue in Chandler, AZ, this album exemplifies the band’s ability to incorporate the improvisation of jazz, the unmistakable rhythms of rock-n-roll, and the story telling lyrics of classic folk music into an unforgettable style. It’s the same genre defying original music that Ten Dollar Outfit (Brian Chartrand – vocals and guitar, Kaleb Anderson – drums, Peter Venti – keys and vocals) performed opening for Steely Dan at the Cricket Pavilion and Chris Isaak at Celebrity Theater in the summer of 2006. “Opening for Steely Dan was an amazing and humbling experience. They have been my favorite band since the 7th grade,” says Chartrand. “It was a dream come true.” This largely unedited and unaltered live album showcases some of their best material from their debut album “East Meets West” (released July 2005). The songs Better Ways To Spend The Day, Genuine Leather, and Don Quixote, which garnered the band much attention on myspace, return on “Live at Chandler Center” with fresh arrangements and renewed intensity. New songs like Traveling, Found What I’m Looking For and Chicago Blues prove that the band is set on continuing the tradition of solid songwriting and musicianship. Even the packaging of the album is unique; each insert was created by hand by the band. No two CDs feature the same album art. “We wanted each CD to be different to reflect the fact that we don’t perform any of our songs the same way twice. We try to make each performance unique,” explains Chartrand.

I am from AZ and I heard them on Myspace so I checked their website out and saw they were playing at a local wine bar. A couple friends and I saw them live and loved the vocals and the closeness of the band so I had to get the CD. I love your style and voice and I think you will go far. Keep it up and never look back!!! Take care...
