Jennifer Terran’s highly personal, inventive music and achingly beautiful voice has inspired rave responses from music lovers and publications all over the world (Telerama, Uncut, Rolling Stone, Oor etc.). Her albums have made several top-ten lists including “Second Best Album of the Year” in the Times of London.
LIVE FROM PAINTED CAVE was recorded in Terran's home for a very small intimate audience. Included are tracks from 2 of her prior records, "Cruel" and "The Musician" in addition to some very amazing renditions of cover songs including Leonard Cohen's "Hallelujah" (made famous by Jeff Buckley).
************
"I have always adored stuffing lots of people in my living room. Pillows and blankets, candlelight and wine.. someone’s leg pressed against my piano bench. When you go to a typical concert, there's a kind of separation between the audience and the musician. Maybe it’s the stage… the lights, the speakers. You never actually hear that human voice or the overtones of the piano cutting through the air. There seems to be a kind of split and the listener becomes more of an observer than an active part of the music unfolding. Home concerts are so different than playing in most venues. A person listening is drawn inside and all barriers vanish. I have felt that this kind of super intimate setting was the best for the kind of music I do. All subtleties can come through…. It’s very powerful.
This recording took place in my dear home in Painted Cave (which since has been replaced by a new home and THE BARN.. my now studio/ concert space.) Anyway, Painted Cave is a small community of homes at the top of the mountain range above Santa Barbara, California. From Camino Cielo, near my house, you could see the whole city and coastline which always put things in perspective for me. Up there nature is in the forefront and the town with all it’s pretense and problems are at a distance. Looking on the other side of Camimo Cielo, you see the glorious back county as it looked thousands of years ago. The road leading up to my house was a very steep, winding, wild one and people would arrive at my house freaked out.. yet exhilarated since they felt they risked their life to get there.
So this recording is a snapshot of a particular period in my life. I love to hear peoples voices in the recording. It’s very visual as if you’ve been transported back in time.
If you want to come in, there’s one seat left under the piano..."

(complete articles at www.jenniferterran.com)
"Endowed with a voice or heartbreaking purity and melodic talent, Jennifer Terran will most likely rise rapidly to the level of the greats.”
TELARAMA (Paris, France)
"Breathtaking... timeless... pure... monumental.... Categorizing Jennifer Terran is impossible. Terran is a style of her own."
OOR MAGAZINE – (Netherlands)
"Haunting and intense, she sounds like a rawer version of Tori Amos. But Terran possesses a uniquely fierce and uncommon uncompromising voice"
UNCUT - (London, UK)
“Terran is a breathtaking singer. Her vocal innuendos are pure, free of the mannerism of a lot of contemporary female colleagues."
FOCUS - (Belgium)
"Jennifer Terran is an unusual, very unusual kind of artist and quite a woman! A truly magnificent Film Noire Diva and a world-class songwriter-singer. This woman is unique, captivating vocalist, pianist, tenderly rebellious songwriter, producer by raison d'etre and necessity, hip-hop dynamic instructor and dancer, story-teller, an existentialist philosopher, an emotionally and intellectually charged teaser and provocative presence and most certainly a daring-devil entrepreneur."
HERALD TIMES PARADE – (London, UK)
"Not everybody can be both scary and vulnerable; Jennifer Terran (pronounced tearin') can. The scary part is her voice, which spirals into regions so high you fear she'll disappear or crash, and lately it has acquired a diamond-dust edge that can saw through a stack of hearts, first of all her own."
LA WEEKLY – (USA)
"If Jennifer Terran has a voice as much incomparable as unforgettable, it is because she is also that in real life. Her authentic and sensual voice awakes up in us emotions so deep inside that thinking of it makes nearly crying of pain or joy, as if truth had a price."
MURMURES – (Switzerland)
"At some point Tori Amos had that same gift, but in the meantime she has become a phenomena… Let's hope that Jennifer Terran will never become world famous."
PLATOMANIA – (Netherlands)
"Pure, that was this concert in one word. No setlist, no décor, only a small lady, with a voice like a storm behind the piano”
STORYVILLE MAGAZINE – (Netherlands)
"The music of Jennifer Terran is so beautiful it hurts."
CULTURE – (Netherlands)

I love her soulful voice. Her remakes of old songs are incredible. I was not crazy about her own material but her voice is enchanting. My husband heard it and stole my CD. I took it back and copied it for myself. I will hold onto my copy with dear life as I also have two daughters that I know will love it.
