Album Notes

Terri Brown, often referred to by her peers as "Guitar Girl", has been playing guitar, writing music and performing for the past 23 years and she is very young! She remembers missing school to fill in for local bands who needed a guitarist as early as age 16.

Her musical roots go far back, as her mother, Karen Hester-Brown, was the drummer for an all-girl band in the 60's called, "The Beatniks." She was always encouraged to play music as a career.

Terri has been an "in demand" musician for a very long time. In 1996, she played on the stage of the Grand Ole Opry and was signed to an independent record label in Nashville with an 18 month contract. Her songs were a hit on local radio stations in the southern states. Recently, 2 songs off her new CD stayed at #1 and #2 on the indie music charts for the Mississippi Gulf Coast for 2 months straight!

Terri is a well-known musician in her community, often playing as a session guitarist in the studio, playing gigs every weekend and often organizing concert benefits in her area for special causes. She plans to start touring in different parts of the United States very soon.

She is quick to say that her music does not fit into any specific genre but is more blues than anything. While most of her songs are blues and rockabilly, she also has a few rock songs with funny lyrics and a few brooding, emotional songs as well.

Her influences have been Chuck Berry (which explains the rockabilly style), Jeff Beck, Jeff Healy, B.B. King and many others.

Terri is known for not taking things too seriously, which gives her an excellent rapport with fans. She likes to write funny songs to make others laugh. At the same time, she writes what she feels. If she is sad, she writes about it and plays the song with so much passion and "soul" that people can feel the emotion coming through the CD.

Terri is an alumni of the University of Southern Mississippi in Hattiesburg. She worked for many years as a therapist but is now pursuing her dream of music for a living. She is also a member of the Local 777 American Federation of Musicians.

Cool songs and wicked good guitar playing! Some of the songs are funny and some are serious but the guitar playing is what gets me. One of the best guitar players I've heard!
