Utopia

Terri just knocks my socks off with her new CD Utopia. It's not too hard, yet not too soft. Terri has made a perfect mix.
I also enjoy the fact that all the music on Utopia is not the same.
The guitar sounds great. the rest of the musicians complimented Terri and her playing. I'll be waiting for the tour and when she decideds to play Oklahoma. lol.
The song she wrote for her grandmother brought tears to my eyes. I know how close she was to her grandparents.
Final words: Utopia is fabulous and I hope Terri has another CD in the future. I know this was a big project, but I'd like to see her do it again.
PS. i also loved Pacific Ocean. Keep up the good work girlfriend!! You make me proud to know you.

Fantastic! The second great CD by Terri. Once again it showcases Terri's talents as a guitarist, songwriter and vocalist. There is a nice variety of musical styles enhanced by the talented cast of supporting musicians. Once again, Terri has outdone herself. She continues to grow both as a songwriter and guitarist. Utopia is a great song, placing the listener in a calm and relaxed state of mind. Cry is another one of my favorites, but every song adds a unique listening experience. Great job Terri. You have captivated me with your musical talent. Also, kudos to all the great musicians and to Billy Sullivan for the great job he did. This is definitely a must add CD to anyone's music collection. Terri is a talented musician and her talents should be recognized.

Terri's licks on the guitar plus her vocals and lyrics make her parent's very proud. I agree with Gareth's review that it is a shame she cannot make something of her music which she loves so much.
I also applaud Billy Sullivan her engineer and co-producer. He is great and very professional. Her choice of musicians also have added such flair to this "Utopia" CD. We love her and miss her being so far away, but we applaud you dear daughter and hope someday you will be recognized for you God given talent. With much love and pride, Mom and Dad

A superb second album from Ms. DiMarco!

This is the second full album I have heard by Terri DiMarco, and it was a long time coming but it was definitely worth the wait!
Terri is an accomplished musician and singer/songwriter who has the uncanny knack of writing catchy, ear pleasing tunes whilst all the while keeping it colourful and interesting. Her songs always have some catchy little hook or melody as her proficient guitar playing is always adequately expressed without ever being over indulgent. Her singing voice is almost a contradiction of her technical musical skills, because you would expect that a guitarist that sounded so worldy would also have that sort of gruff and grizzled type voice that only comes after years of "livin' the blues". Not here. Terri has a pure and beautiful singing voice. Her passionate vocals express great emotion whilst never missing a note, and have an innocent quality to them that is as easy on the ear as it is endearing.
Musically, "Utopia" is a mixed bag of assorted delights. There's a little bit of everything in there as Terri draws on a wide range of influences and musical styles, but all the while maintaining the integrity of the song, and stamping it with her own original Terri DiMarco style. From the gritty blues of "Convince Myself" to the intimate soul bearing of "In Your Grace", from the rock 'n' roll of "Big City" to the grunge rock of "Everybody's Watching", there is a rainbow of musical styles on offering, all accessable and enjoyable in their simplicity yet free of the mundane clichés that a lot of "radio friendly" music often offers.
"Utopia" is an album that has colour, passion, emotion, energy, beautiful melodic structures and most important of all it contains the heart and soul of the artist. It is an honest expression of a person's vision.
The production on this CD is also excellent and it really sounds as if it has had one of the world's top record labels pour millions into making this album sound an audible treat. The fact that it was done independently on a relatively small scale on a low budget, yet still managed to achieve the quality of sound and production you would expect on something financially backed by the corporate giants of the music industry is a testament to the great work of the multi talented Billy Sullivan who co-produced "Utopia" along with Terri, as well as being the recording engineer behind the project (and also serving as drummer and percussionist on all the tracks!). The album was recorded at North Hollywood's Cloverland Studios, and in my opinion Mr Sullivan has done a sterling job on this album and it's one he should be proud to add to his portfolio.
"Utopia" is the follow up release to Terri's previous album "Pacific Ocean", which she put out back in 2000. That is also another CD I highly recommend you check out, and it's one that is often found spinning in my CD player. To her credit, "Utopia" is not a carbon copy of her first offering, neither is it a let down as that so often difficult follow up album seems doomed to be. No, instead "Utopia" is Terri with a refreshed edge and a certain vibe that explores other areas of her musical spectrum. The predominantly haunting, stirring melodies that "Pacific Ocean" was generally made up of have now been placed slightly to the back in favour of a more bold, brash and edgey approach to her music.
It's a crying shame that Terri DiMarco is virtually unkown to a music industry that is so often littered with bubblegum and disposable wallpaper music, because this lady is one of the true talents that writes and performs with genuine heart and soul. She has a fantastic command of her instrument that puts most Top 40 artists to shame.
Check out "Utopia" nopw, and whilst you're at it give "Pacific Ocean" a whirl too! :)
