This is the third album by the Canadian songwriter/guitarist, Terry Gomes. This project marks a striking departure from the first two genre-jumping compilations and is a much more unified effort. It was co-produced and engineered by well known Quebec native, Ross Murray. The notion of Loose Ends—unresolved issues—resonates through the album’s 10 tracks. It opens with the groovy paranoia of, “What You Don’t Say”, moves on to the humorous and satirical with, “Go Away”, and has touches of the quirky and catchy as in, “Don’t Trouble Trouble”. There are also many beautiful and introspective tunes like, “A Pile of Leaves” and “The Warm Room”.The album has echoes of the music and production of the 60s and early 70s—double-tracked vocals, clean guitars and feeling of the familiar but not the imitative. In this regard, it is the work of an individual. Terry, himself, describes his music as quirky and murky and this album is that and more. Take the time to enjoy, the Loose Ends!
