Terry Martin

Terry was born in Houston, Texas and at the young age of 8 years old started singing in his Grandfather’s church with his Mother. In 1984, Terry tried out for a gospel group known as “The Gospel Messengers.” Terry sang tenor for this group for 17 years sharing the stage with other noted southern gospel groups such as “The Mid-South Boys,” “The Rex Nelen Singers,” and “The Nerthams”.
In 1999, Terry left the “Gospel Messengers” and began singing with the “Southern Spirit Quartet”. They were privileged to share the stage with many other southern gospel groups, to name a few, “The Kingsmen”, “Gold City”, “The Stanleys”, “Southern Plainsmen”, “Gary Shepard”, and “Mark Lanier”. This experience set the stage for the “Southern Spirit Quartet” to be voted the Best Male Quartet three years in a row. Terry was voted Male Tenor of the year three years in a row by the Southern News Fan Favorites Poll. In November 2005, Terry resigned from the “Southern Spirit Quartet” feeling he was being led in a new direction, which resulted in him joining another group called “The New Liberty Quartet”.
Terry has presently signed a recording contract with Showtime Records, in Nashville, TN., and is now in the process of recording his own solo album project,
plus recording a new album project with “The New Liberty Quartet”. Terry is also involved with writing several songs that will be recorded in these projects.
With Terry’s dedication and God given talent, he has and will continue to spread the word of God through his music endeavors and will continue to be successful in the gospel music industry. Terry is a member of the Gateway Tabernacle Church (which was established by Terry’s Grandfather 80 years ago), and is now on tour with “The New Liberty Quartet”.
