Los Texas Wranglers
Texas Treasures
If you’re the leading Tejano band in Austin, Texas and a
three-time winner in the Austin Music Awards, what’s the
next move? Let everyone know what the buzz is about,
of course.
Texas Treasures arrives appropriately named from Los
Texas Wranglers at a time when Austin’s fabled music
scene is rich, vibrant, and modern, and incorporating its
many multicultural elements. The first decade of the new
millennium brought sangre nueva y nueva vida - new
blood and new life – to young Latino musicians and
singers whose influences are contemporary as well as
classic. Los Texas Wranglers carry on the new legacy with
hand-tooled class.
As native a Lone Star State sound as any band with a
country fiddle or blues guitar, Texas Treasures makes
its mark with Tejano style and conjunto soul. The music
is visceral, underscored by expert musicianship and puro
corazón, with original material as well as songs made
famous by the likes of Little Joe, Ruben Ramos, and
Laura Canales. Yet underneath is a broad vision that
incorporates elements of Americano, the newly emerging
hybrid of roots-rock influenced Tejano into the band’s
crowd-pleasing repertoire of popular waltzes and
two-steps.
And what defines Tejano in 2010? Los Texas Wranglers.
Of course!
