Album Notes

The Texettes are a couple of Aussie “sophisticated urban hillbillies with unique style!" Sometimes sweet, sometimes tough, sometimes raw, their music goes beyond genre definition, taking elements from country, pop, rock, blues, electronica and jazz, to create a complimentary genre.

Whether it be a pop treasure or a heart warming ballad, Terry’s lyrics, inspired by his Australian surroundings and diverse life experiences, are intimate, heartfelt, mature and intelligent .

The Texettes songs have vitality and energy, rhythm and melody, as showcased by their latest album, “Fearless”. Guitar, piano, accordion, bass and drums (even Hammond organ!), underpin and compliment the lush melodies and the duo’s passionate and infectious enthusiasm, to create an album that has a sense of fun, but an underlying sadness and tenderness at its soul.

Terry Bradford and Helen Ellis, based in Adelaide South Australia, perform essentially as an acoustic duo. The Texettes originated in March 2001, as a five piece band, for the purpose of producing an album of original material written by Terry Bradford and Phil Bray. They were the Governor Hindmarsh’s (Adelaide’s “home of live music”) resident front bar band from March 2001 to December 2002, releasing their first album “Sweetheart” during this period.

The Texettes continued to perform as a trio throughout 2003 to July 2004 releasing their EP/CD “The Land That We Love”. This song was included on Australian Broadcasting Commission’s “Macca by Request Volume 2” 2004 compilation.

A further change to the line up in August 2004, saw Terry and Helen, continue as a duo, spending the next 12 months writing, performing and recording. The result is an album of music that is mature and the most accomplished to date.

“Fearless” was launched in Adelaide on July 27th, 2006. Produced and engineered by Sodypop Studios and independently released by Round Records (both Adelaide based), the album contains 12 original songs plus a cover of the Beatles “You Can’t Do That”. At the heart of this album is the new material developed since the Texette duo's debut in March 2005, together with songs recorded 2003-2004.
