"These are far from stale or dreary Sunday-school sing-a-long songs. Both the originals and Feldmann’s covers are soulful and often rollicking tunes accompanied by his deft slide guitar. These are the gospel songs that played a role in the development of the deep blues and ultimately, rock and roll.
- Vintage Guitar Magazine
"Nicely done. Keep it up."
- Bob Brozman
"I enjoyed this album quite a lot. It's done with taste, really good musicianship, and the performances are subtle and have a really good feeling."
- Bruce Iglauer, Alligator Records
"Feldmann's supple fingerpickin' and lilting tenor gives immediacy to the plea for sense in today's confusing, 24/7 domineering world."
– Blues Revue Magazine
"Tom plays great bottleneck guitar. The tracks are not note by note renditions but rather Tom's tasteful and powerful arrangements evoking the spirit and feel of the old recordings."
- Stefan Grossman
"Tom’s album is a celebration without imitation or irritation; as such it is one of the very best things I’ve heard all year."
- Blues & Rhythm Magazine, UK

Liner Notes
It was 1996 and I was 17 years old, searching for something called "the blues" in an attempt to trace the origins of my favorite bands at the time. I grabbed the first CD that caught my attention, solely based on the album cover. It was "The Country Blues of John Lee Hooker," and my life was forever changed. After fourteen years of original compostions, I felt it was time to pay tribute to my roots.
