Album Notes

It's a long story...but it's a good story.

In the midst of what he describes as a "roller coaster ride" of a life, a man named David took his guitar to New York's Central Park.

He found a spot by The Lake on the west side facing a lazy, grassy hill and began to play his songs for the four or five people who were sitting there.

To a smattering of applause he replied, "Oh, that's okay. It's just us."

The five people turned into twenty.

Then the twenty became over 200...

Everyone singing along, smiling, mellowing in their own memories, diggin' the acoustic, rock, country and original sound of the Guitar Man by this magical little hill, right in the middle of the capital of the world.

It turned into something no one could describe.

It felt as if no one, including the Guitar Man, was capable of an unkind thought.

It was the music. It was New York City. It was magic. That afternoon was in June of 1992.

Since that day, David has packed up his axe and headed to Central Park every warm weekend.

Over the years, the people on the hill have numbered in the hundreds of thousands.

And yet it still feels as though...it's just us.

This CD is the first of five releases by David Ippolito, That Guitar Man from Central Park.

If you dig this one...ask us about his others!

I came to see you with my new found love, Carol Venelli, and spent four hours in the park last Sat 6/6. the best time in a long time. I can't say enough about you. Not only your talent as a talented artist in your playing but in your orig words, as a 63 yo man touched me. Maybe because I found my love in Carol but I think you had a lot to do with it. There aren't enough words to express how specail you are. Bought your CD's and can't stop playing "the people on the hill". Steven Kormes

I had never even heard of the Guitar Man of Central Park until a few weeks ago. Now, after a perfect afternoon sitting on the hill and then buying one cd for me and one for my friend, I have committed all the songs on this album to memory. You should hear me sing along to I Can\'t Wait!! He\'s a little Jim Croce, a little Harry Chapin (but more handsome and with a better voice) and a little Peter Paul & Mary. Bravo.

Stumbling upon David and The Hill was magical enough that I bought this CD. Now I wish I'd gotten all of his CDs as I play this one a little too often. I live less than an hour from Danville...and I will never think of that hick-town the same. Great music to paint by.
