Album Notes

" ... well crafted, intelligent music that resonates deeply within the wellspring of emotion..."
--The Portland Mercury

"Good. Pure Stuff. Yeah, Baby."
-- Eugene Weekly

We like this album because acoustic music could use some reverb, because rejection is funny, because we all think we're instant tambourine genieuses but really we aren't, because grief and laughter use the same muscles when you sing, because folk, pop, acoustic and rock can be woven together into Just Good Music.

ALBUM STUFF At 24 years, this is Thais' third album, her second released in oregon. This album shows off some of Thais' most sophisticated writing to date, a shift towards storytelling in the folk tradition. Political, but not in the traditional beat-you-about-the-head style, these songs are elegantly written roots-rock. Balancing the album are several achingly tender songs of love and acceptance, arguably what Thais does best.

This is at its heart an acoustic release with a folk-roots feel, but the innovative production skills of Portland newcomers NICK JAINA and WILSON MARKS give it a more urban edge than her previous releases.

BIO STUFF Thais is from Louisiana but has lived in Oregon for the lat four years. She's placed in some songwriting contests (Kerrville New Folk, Sierra Songwriters, John Lennon Songwriting Contest) and played a few festivals (Oregon Country Fair, Tumbleweed, MusicFestNW, Oregon Folklife) and these were good things. She's toured a few times cross-country with her guitar and this is her favorite way to live, and would like to do something small to save the world one day. She's also a forest ecologist, a science-fiction junkie and misses her mom, which is why this album is dedicated to her.

VERY IMPORTANT "Tactile" was paid for largely by donations from community members and the money has stayed in the community. We feel darned good about this.

It Get's Me Through a Hard Day
author: Burke Ingraffia
This CD always gets played when I am having a stressful day. The songs are heart-felt, imaginitive, and beautifully written. Thais' vocals as well as Wilson Marks' contribution are as true and warm as you have ever heard among modern folk singer/songwriters.
