Nevermind the Bollocks
author: Paul Richards
Just bought 5 Sputnik Weasel albums & listened to 'em all in one evening, being blown away track after track. Last one being The Audience, & I will probably credit all albums in time (They're all THAT good!) but I can't believe that this band passed "under the Radar"!! I thought I was well up on the music around in 1979-84, but utterly perplexed as to how the world missed this one! This is the ultimate punk album! It has the energy of the Pistols/Damned, The catchyness of The Buzzcocks, The musicality of XTC, The attitude of The Clash, The political eloquence of Chumbawumba, The quirkyness of Xray Specs, The organ like The Stranglers & Sound like all of the best bands of this era rocked into one!!! & somehow not sounding as retro as most of those bands sound today. Totally catchy 2 minute pop songs loaded with energy, vitality, ingenuity, intelligent lyrics, tight playing & wit, with reverance to all that's gone before in Rock&Roll history &.... makes me feel 16 again!! Never mind the Bollocks - This is the Spunk!!!
