Album Notes

The Beneath is a six piece metal band hailing from Cincinnati, OH. They have been a staple in the local scene in Cincinnati for the past two years playing with acts such as Protest the Hero, Haste the Day, Between the Buried and Me, Project 86, etc. They released their first record, 'So Came the Decimation' in August of 2007 and now proudly release 'City of Light' (April 2009), which is already receiving rave reviews from the critics. The Beneath blend heavy guitar-driven melodic metal with anthemic harmonized vocals from their two singers. So sit back, try to relax, and experience, The Beneath.

this cd was amazing. the guitar riffs are insane and the drums mostly give a real steady beat but often throw in fills that make you say "whoa, what was that!?!" every song kept me guessing and the melodic singing matched very well with the heavy screaming. only down sides: i didnt really hear any bass parts that stood out and the cd didnt come with a booklet. besides that.....freaking out of this world!!

If the name alone doesn't evoke cavernous, shadow-filled scenery where something lurks around every corner, the music will. This Cincinnati six-piece takes on the challenging task of creating relevant, intelligent, and technically adept prog-metal, and their follow-through is more than impressive. There's so much going on during the course of these seven songs that it would be impossible to cover it all, but expect these elements in spades: propulsive guitar riffs that fill out the sound without being over-eager; dual vocals that hit from the left, the right, and scream down the middle; and some of the tightest playing you're going to hear on a metal record this year. If you're a fan of intricate progressions, rock-solid rhythm sections, and singing that toggles between melodic and guttural, you owe it to yourself to give this a shot. The tracks are dense and you won't have any problems listening to 'em over and over.
