Currently, there is a lot of hooplah over the 150th anniversary of the American Civil War. Re-enactors are gathering for skirmishes all over the place, and, naturally enough, there are a lot of old tunes flying around besides all that lead. Well, this bunch of Damn Yankees wants to make sure that some good old Union tunes get heard. Now, we all know that a good tune gets passed around, and there are probably Confederates out there with lyrics to match; also, many tunes with the same lyrics were popular enough in both camps. But you'll hear songs from us with a northern bent - some good old Irish tunes, lots of sentimental stuff, all the hits of the 50's and 60's (1850 and 1860, that is), songs by your favorite composers, like Henry C. Work, George F. Root and Stephen Foster, as well as an old hoedown or two, just in case you want to get up and dance. Ready - aim - pick and grin!
