Album Notes

The BLB is a unique and high-energy band that focuses on strong vocal harmonies. The band brings together angry hard rock and pretty love songs.

Ben Lehl formed what is now known as the BLB. Ben Lehl has been described as an artist who writes in a way that reflects the humanity in us all. Born with a disfigured left hand, Ben learned early not to let his hand be a deterrent to his need to write and play music. Whether the mood is tongue-in-cheek, dark and surreal or sweet and tender, it is verbalized through his capable guitar playing and emotional lyrics.
In the early 1990s Ben was part of Drasbury, a favorite among Midwest club-goers. In 2002 Lehl lent his guitar talents to Emilie Autumn and toured her "Chambermaid" effort through 2003.

In 2006, Ben formed what was originally called the Ben Lehl Band.
Ben first brought bassist, Andrew Musgrove into the band. Musgrove’s musical experience, mixed with his shy demeanor brought a noteworthy dynamic to the group. Next, came Jessica Forsythe, also known as J4. Jessica was originally meant to be a vocalist, which quickly evolved into her tearing it up on the drums and singing. J4’s in-your-face approach to playing the drums is definitely reflective in her music.
Singer Sara Lawrence joined shortly after. Sara, a classically trained vocalist, wanted to focus her efforts on singing, song writing, and harmonies. This collaboration of efforts, soon led to the creation of songs like Muddy Shoes.

In 2007, the band started playing live shows around the Des Moines area, which evolved into playing all over Iowa and the Midwest. Spring of 2009 marked the long-awaited release of the BLB’s first collaborative CD, Synesthesia.

Oh my god this is one of the most unique bands ever. I just can't pick who they sound like because each song is a different experience. Muddy shoes is by far the best song on the album lyrical and rocks. look at the band website oh my god the things i would do to the female lead after hearing her voice then seeing her picture laurdy.
