Album Notes

GET YOUR MONKEY OFF MY DOG, the Bobs' 14th CD is a stunning compilation of 18 (or 19, depending on how you count) new, original songs sprung from the dangerous minds of ASCAP-award winners (and Grammy-noms for vocal arranging) The Bobs.

Recorded in Seattle, Berkeley and in Room 144 of the Best Western in Marshalltown Iowa (yep, that's right!), this collection features guest appearances by former Bobs Gunnar Madsen and Lori Rivera as well as the Bobs' current lineup of Dan Bob Schumacher, Richard Bob Greene, Amy Bob Engelhardt and Matthew Bob Stull.

What's the album about? Oh, the usual assortment of obvious topics. Tubas, fast food, feng shui, the wild west, vibration, lame pickup lines, the faux poor, wrong numbers, annoying simians, religious cooking, cow tipping, hope, David Mamet, giant bagels, dating, poverty, and the ability to par-tay...

Produced by Richard Bob Greene.

“Whether they’re emulating an instrument or actually singing real words, this act consistently provokes responses ranging from laughter to awestruck shock,”
-Music Connection Magazine.

"Endearingly wacky music... an eloquent reminder of just how much fun you can have with the human voice."
- launch.com

"A marriage of Barenaked Ladies and Manhattan Transfer...truly off the beaten path."

REVIEWS

Track after track of impressive harmonies and beats woven together to the point

"Let’s just get this out of the way right away before this review goes any further: The Bobs are amazing. They have won over a grizzled folkie who thinks tunes are incomplete without a guitar solo or two. There are no guitar solos on The Bobs’ Get Your Monkey Off My Dog, and most likely none on any of the their other 14 albums. That’s the other thing, The Bobs have been a working band since 1981. A working a cappella band, even." For a full review, click on the link for Indie-Music.com to the left!

Believe the hype!

OK, actually there isn't much hype, but I thank the people at CD Baby for e-mailing me about this new Bobs release. I love it! Every track is a winner. Some are very funny, some mildly funny that you can groove to, and some are just amazing or intriguing, or both. The Bobs are still going strong and sounding great. If anything, the album gets stronger in the second half. I just wish I could catch them live sometime soon to see these songs brought to humorous life! I've seen them many times over the years and they're always great.
