Album Notes

The Bridge is a new hip-hop group out of Chicago, Illinois; and is comprised of Hollywood (MC), Migweezy (MC), and TapeMan (Producer/DJ). Their debut album, The Chosen Few, will be released independently February 27, 2007, providing the rap game with a much-needed facelift.

In an industry and genre plagued by imitation and monotony, The Bridge has no choice but to stand apart from the rest. Versatile and fresh, The Bridge’s freshman album is as diverse as its members. Their chemistry, both on wax and on stage, is on par with what you would expect from a group described as “Run DMC on crunk.*”

The Bridge’s solidarity is no fluke either; Hollywood (a.k.a. Wood) and Migweezy (a.k.a. Gweezy) have been best friends since they were nine-years-old, and it was Hollywood who first introduced Gweezy to rap music. After going away to college, Gweezy began rapping over beats produced by another longtime friend, cosmopolitan producer TapeMan.

The stars aligned in August 2006 when Hollywood, who had been rapping since childhood, visited Gweezy and TapeMan in Chicago and the three collaborated on their first track, “Listen to the Verse.” Less than six months later The Bridge has written, recorded, mixed and mastered its first LP (completely independently), and in-so-doing captured the attention of hip-hop fans gasping for a breath of fresh air.

It is only fitting that the group’s first song, “Listen to the Verse,” will also serve as the group’s lead single off The Chosen Few. The song’s hook is a call for hip-hop fans worldwide to take The Chosen Few for what it is, a hip-hop mission statement, insisting listeners to measure The Bridge by its music…and nothing else.

good!

pretty good CD. some songs are just fun and no deep lyrics and some songs lyrics come off as cliche. the best songs in my opinion are #1,5,9! The beats alone make this CD better than the average.
