Here's what people have been saying about "Getting There From Here"
Just when I’d given up hope on the state of rock ‘n’ roll, a little independent release has come to save the day! “Getting There From Here”, by The Covering, is earnest, indie-rock inspired music for the soul! Poetic and highly recommended. - PHIL SMITH, WJTL-FM
This debut CD, in its simplicity, is a prelude of amazing things to come from this band who is reminiscent lyrically of Human Drama and instrumentally of early Days of the New. Possessing a breathy soft tenor, the singer pours his soul out into each note that maintains its vibrancy and integrity with the closeness of the miking. His falsetto is just as soft and is used with much ease and fluidity while maintaining its masculinity. The deep felt emotions conveyed by him are brought into clarity in the songs "I Need You" and "Run to You." Breath control is good, although a bit hesitant. Most of the songs are either about "her" or reflect "his" feelings towards "her" and as romantic as that may be the true nature of songwriting is to bear "his feelings" and "himself." One song in which he does this is "My Life" which is a true gem reflecting the singer/songwriter's inward life. Like a river the melody of the guitars sweep the vocal lines along in a winding tale of the heart. Bass lines are humble and are often lost in the wave of the melody, thus they never overpower the potency of the singer or guitars. Drums provide a sturdy backbone to each song even if at times they come across as a little more erratic than complements the rest of the instrumentation. For the most part, the keyboards are an annoying distraction from the beauty of each song, taking away from the emotional experience. Most of the songs have a slow to mid-tempo beat save for the faster, upbeat "The Sun Will Come Again" and "Ever Day" which are the musical highlights of this CD. Spirituality laces the entire CD with a refreshing and uplifting change from the downtrodden and disheartening choices out there making the listener eager for the next release. - WEST COAST PERFORMER MAGAZINE
I really like what I’m hearing from The Covering. Catchy tunes with solid vocals, great instrumentation, and solid lyrics. This is the kind of music that I wish I heard more of...seriously! - JAMES BLIND, GROUND FLOOR EVENTS CONCERT PROMOTION, Portland, OR
