The Downtown County Band began nearly four years ago on a steep hill in Owenton Kentucky. The current arrangement of Keith Clifton on banjo, Wes Petzinger on guitar, Dave Hawkins on mandolin, and John Atha on upright bass, has composed the band for the past two productive years. During this time… back in 2010, these fine young Kentucky artists released their self-titled debut album. It has been their shared appreciation for roots music, delta blues, and old time country and rock that enlivens their original sound and has allowed them to breathe new life into a classic Kentucky bluegrass arrangement. Along the way… since the release of their first album, the DCB has acquired percussionist Jason Halker on drums, and last March 2012 recorded their highly anticipated second studio album “that a way,” due to release on August 30th. The band’s growth is apparent, as they look set to begin touring soon… further developing their sound and playing for audiences across the country. It’s an exciting time for The Downtown County Band!
