Album Notes

The Dropsteppers formed in January of 2010 in NE Minneapolis. The band consists of members Albert Perez on guitar, Paul Perez on percussion/vocals, Eric Struve on bass, Doug Otto on keys/vocals, Chris Gray on drums/vocals and Tom McDowall on lead vocals/guitar. Their music blends Jamaican early reggae, Jamaican rocksteady and classic American Soul Music.

Their influences include many Jamaican and American Soul Artists such as: The Melodians, Desmond Dekker, Alton Ellis, Delroy Wilson, The Bleechers, Dave Barker, The Upsetters, Toots and the Maytals, Marcia Griffiths, Phyllis Dillon, Pat Kelly, The Techniques, Otis Redding, Sam Cooke, The Mohawks, The Specials, James Brown, David Ruffin, The Meters, Major Lance, The Beatles and many more.

The Dropsteppers are releasing their full-length album Get Up In It! on Megalith Records in early fall 2011! The album was recorded at Shock & Audio Studio in Uptown Minneapolis by Andrew Zoellner, produced by Tom McDowall and The Dropsteppers, co-produced by Aaron Porter from The Prizefighters and mixed by Paul Flynn at IPR's Mastermix Studio in Downtown Minneapolis. Mastered by Michael Fossenkemper at Turtletone Mastering in NYC.
